Vdara and London’s 20 Fenchurch showed how a glass facade can turn reflected sunlight into a post-construction problem.
We built an illustrative Crescent Tower concept to screen for it while design options are still open.
Its concave glass facade over a pool deck was FLAGGED at 2.07× peak concentration, about 106 °C, and 6.0 h/day of focal dwell across the tested solar sweep.
The same illustrative program, remediated with a convex facade and fritted low-e glazing, returned SCREEN-CLEAR at 1.10× and about 74 °C. That supports continued concept exploration, then full optical simulation and licensed review.
Save this for the next curved-glass review, and send it to the facade engineer who needs the solar study before the render hardens into a decision.
